The Veterinary Orthopedic Center Opens in Highland!

Bark all about it…the new state-of-the-art veterinary facility to exclusively provide personalized orthopedic care, the Veterinary Orthopedic Center (VOC) was officially opened to the public on Tuesday, December 18th with a ribbon cutting. The VOC in Highland has been a long-time dream of Veterinarian Dr. Claude Gendreau, who has served the community for more than 40 years. The center is unique in its exclusive focus on orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation care.
At the event, remarks and well wishes were made by Bernie Zemen (Vice President, Highland Town Council ), Michael Griffin (IAMC, MMC, CPFA, CPFIM, Highland Clerk-Treasurer), Tim Kirkby (AIA, AICP, LEED AP BD+C, ND, Farr & Associates) Doug Farr (FAIA, LEED AP, founder of Farr & Associates) and founder of the VOC Claude Gendreau, B.A., DVM, MSC, DACVS. Partners for the event included Northwest Indiana Forum, CORE Construction and HighlandGriffith Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Highland.
The new VOC is located at The Cardinal Campus of Highland, 2215 E Main Street in Highland, Indiana. The center is a state-of-the-art facility providing the most germ-free surgical suites, focused exclusively on orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation and pain management for dogs and cats. The facility includes an aquatic treadmill to target specific muscle groups and improve cardio-pulmonary fitness, laser therapy to reduce pain and inflammation and therapeutic ultrasound, massage and exercises to meet patients’ individual needs. Dr. Gendreau contracted with award-winning architects Farr Associates to design a most ecologically benign facility. VOC is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and is set to achieve Platinum LEED certification.
